- Have a Backup Plan: If you will be out of contact, assign a stand-in, a trusted person to be in charge while you are away. Importantly, they are trusted and capable ‘to act’ in your place. This may be an independent Business advisor, Accountant or similar.
- Arrange Check-ins: If your Business model doesn’t support you being completely out of touch, pre-arranged scheduled check-ins are the answer. Staying connected this way is easier for both you and staff to address any issues should they arise. This approach means you don't have to be on your phone 24/7.
- Schedule your media Posts: Your Business is still operating while you're on vacation, pre-scheduling posts is a means of staying connected to your customers.
- Advise Customers in advance: Give clients and customers advance notice. Depending on your Industry will determine how this translates. Being proactive allows you time to resolve any issues before you go, promotes goodwill and helps build strong relationships.
- Ideally, take leave in slow time: Most Businesses will have peak and slow times. If you are a key player, taking leave in a slower period will benefit you and the Team. Your absence won't affect peak period activity, and you are less likely to be needed by either staff or clients.
