CommunityAs AI bears down on us at a rapid pace, with AI assistants now the first point of conversation for many services and Businesses, more than ever, making and keeping ‘real’, true community connections is vital.

As simple as that early morning coffee, which morphs into a routine, it’s more than a habit or a chai latte; this effort provides the opportunity to make, build and keep community connections. Developing meaningful and lasting connections and relationships, the essence of a healthy life and quality wellbeing.

Whether it's the corner Cafe, Gym, Book Club, Walking groups or Iceberg swimmers. Gatherings that bring people together are important for any age, whatever their interests. Whether scheduled, preplanned, or developed by chance, people gather and connect with meaning.

Are you one of the local cafe community?

Morning coffee, with pleasantries and news exchanges, tables shared. Connections are created that can develop into commitment, caring and being there for others. ‘ Have you seen Bill this week? We heard Jack was scammed, bank funds were stolen, and we are doing a collection to help him.’ ‘Joan, come sit with us. How are you?

But more than this, the amazing bonus of creating and developing these connections is that it provides the reason and purpose that shapes, underpins and grounds these relationships.

‘I look forward to seeing and chatting with the group, nurturing these relationships. I feel I belong, am valued and appreciated’.

Read the research: as human social beings, we all want to belong, associate with a ‘tribe’, and have regular rhythm and meaning to our daily routines to help foster healthier lives. To move and interact.

Does this sound familiar? How many times have you heard, ‘I retired but have lost the meaning and purpose in life; I struggle to get out of bed, to get going each day? I’ve become a couch potato!’

But you don‘t have to be a retiree to relate to this sentiment. I hear comments from all generations. ‘I have many social media friends but don’t have any meaningful connections.’ I belong to a fitness club, but when the session finishes, I feel alone.’

Making and keeping Community connections; crafting and creating meaningful relationships have no boundaries or time limits.

It’s about making an effort. Send a text, pick up the phone, and stay connected!

Catch up with old friends, reach out, share old memories, and make new ones, caring for and nurturing these relationships. Value those who keep turning up and are there for you in the good and bad times.  And return the commitment, support and friendship.
